Powering inclusive digital public infrastructure in Nigeria
Digital financial inclusion will be vital for the Central Bank of Nigeria to achieve a ‘nationally utilised payments environment’. The Payments System Vision 2025 highlights different routes to digital financial inclusion – agent banking or mobile money – and many of these approaches will involve collaboration with the private sector. How can ecosystem players – central banks, commercial banks and fintech companies – collaborate to implement robust payments systems that are financially inclusive? Paul Oluikpe, head of the commercial agriculture credit division, and formerly head of financial inclusion delivery at CBN, joins OMFIF to discuss achieving financial inclusion through digital financial infrastructure in Nigeria. The roundtable also explores the barriers to financial inclusion, its importance and how collaboration with the private sector can help to build trust and increase adoption in order to achieve CBN’s Vision 2025. |
