Inflation dynamics and drivers: looking under the bonnet

Headline inflation has decelerated rapidly, but the services component remains stuck at around 6%. Catherine Mann, external member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, joined OMFIF to highlight the key factors behind the deceleration in the headline rate and to discuss how they impact services inflation dynamics. She also discussed how consumer price index microdata, firm pricing strategies and advanced econometric investigations can help to inform monetary policy decisions.
