The new era of central bank policy and operations
Having carried out rapid monetary tightening in 2022-23, central banks are now debating when and how to ease policy – and how best deploy to their balance sheets in what will hopefully be a new ‘steady state’ for monetary policy. The European Central Bank is due to finalise its operational framework review in spring 2024, while other central banks are undertaking similar rethinking.
This in-person seminar delves into the future implementation of central bank policy levers, particularly for the ECB. It also investigates the macroeconomic position and outlook. With a focus on financial market implications, speakers will explore how central banks’ refashioned operational approach will dovetail with overall monetary policy. The invitation-only meeting convenes around 25 attendees from central banks, international organisations and the financial services sector.
