2023 was a landmark year for Hong Kong as it bounced back from the pandemic. Bankers, investors, policy-makers, fintechs and other financial services providers rediscovered a financial centre that is not just open for business, but ready to do better business across the Greater China area and beyond.

The Global finance forum, in Hong Kong on 26 June 2024, is a chance for the global financial community to learn more about these developments and the potential to do business in and via the region. With the support of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, this event promises to be an exceptional opportunity for industry participants to uncover new horizons.

At the Global finance forum, partnering institutions can show their global and regional leadership at a time where good advice and market-leading solutions are more important than ever. This event will give OMFIF’s partners a platform to demonstrate their commitment to Hong Kong and Greater China as a place to build client relationships and do business.

John Orchard, Chief Executive Officer, OMFIF

Eddie Yue, Chief Executive, Hong Kong Monetary Authority

How Hong Kong’s role as a financial centre and investment destination provides an opportunity for financial services at a crucial time for the global economy.

OMFIF presents the results of its survey of the world’s central bank reserve managers, with particular focus on their investment plans in Greater China and Asia Pacific.

Global public investors assess the investment opportunities via Hong Kong, including allocations to renminbi assets, the importance of Hong Kong and Chinese assets in a global portfolio and the growing role of private equity.

This session assesses the potential growth of Hong Kong’s equity and debt capital markets, the role of Bond and Stock Connect programmes and forging closer market ties with other regions, particularly the Middle East.

The conversation about transition finance has progressed from what we need to do to how we are going to do it. This panel explores developments in financial markets, and the importance of public and private sector co-operation.

Hong Kong is a pioneer in the regulation of digital assets, working to design robust and clear systems. How will tokenisation affect exchanges, securities services providers and the economy more broadly? And how will these developments shape business relationships with Greater China and other jurisdictions?

Asia’s next generation is spearheading the diversification of investment portfolios and expanding financial horizons. They are poised to serve as catalysts for progress in global phenomena such as artificial intelligence and sustainable investing, shaping the evolution of wealth management.
