Promoting sovereign sustainable bond issuance in Africa

In partnership with the African Development Bank (‘AfDB’), with the support of Moody’s and Société Générale, OMFIF is hosting a workshop to promote sovereign sustainable bond issuance in Africa. The objective of the workshop is to help emerging market sovereign issuers in Africa enter the green, social, and sustainable (GSS) bond markets. By bringing together key stakeholders from all sides of the GSS capital markets –  experienced DMOs, development banks, investors, ratings agencies, and intermediaries – it builds a firm foundation for debt management offices to prepare future issuance from emerging market sovereigns.
Key themes of discussion include:
- Work needed for DMOS and treasuries to develop the required steps for issuance
- How bond issuance fits with debt dynamics and management strategy
- Designing frameworks, coordination with stakeholders and data collection
- Developing supply to meet investor bond demand
- Determining eligible projects for investment
