UK’s Brexit negotiations

In the light of the Covid-19, post-Brexit talks between the UK and European Union are taking place via video conference. Questions have been raised as to whether the pandemic will force an extension to the transition period, which is set to expire on 31 December. A Downing Street Official has insisted there will be no extension, but as the second round of negotiations start on 11 May, there are doubts on the viability of coming to an agreement in this timeframe.
Ivan Rogers, who was the UK permanent representative to the European Union until 2017, discusses the possibility of an extension and analyses the negotiations so far.
