Speaker: Marouane El Abassi, Governor, Central Bank of Tunisia
North Africa has recovered from a period of widespread political transition. Improved commodity prices and structural reforms have contributed to building investor confidence, but challenges remain with financial market reforms, debt management, diversification of sectors and inclusive growth. Marouane El Abassi, who leads the Central Bank of Tunisia, will discuss the difficulties that North Africa faces and the measures Tunisia has taken to increase foreign direct investment and trade. He will also assess North Africa’s economic relationship with the European Union, and what the UK’s departure from the bloc means for the region.
