Bitcoin hit an all-time high in market value this year, leading to speculation that we are witnessing the institutionalisation of a new asset class. However, as more investors turn to crypto-assets, risks for retail investors and the financial system are heightened, making devised legal and regulatory approaches ever more paramount.
