The future of US climate finance
Two years after the enaction of the Inflation Reduction Act and ahead of the presidential election, the future of climate-based economic policy in the US is at a critical junction.
This roundtable covers US climate finance policy areas and their economic impact, including sustainable infrastructure investments and the energy transition. It also considers approaches to private and public sector collaborative efforts to combat climate change.

Giulia Siccardo is director of the US Department of Energy’s office of manufacturing and energy supply chains. She is responsible for awarding government investments to strengthen US manufacturing capacity and workforce development. Her scope includes batteries, hydrogen, heat pumps, solar, transmission and zero-emission materials. Prior to this position, Siccardo was partner at McKinsey & Company and leader of McKinsey’s Green Growth service line. She also founded Frontier, a $1bn+ advance market commitment to catalyse high permanence carbon dioxide removals.

Eric Haxthausen is senior adviser to the director of the US Trade and Development Agency, where he leads USTDA’s work on climate change. He has experience as a senior adviser at the US Agency for International Development, director of US climate change policy for the Nature Conservancy, an economist at the Environmental Defense Fund and in the White House Office of Management and Budget.

Lida Fitts is acting deputy assistant secretary of climate, environment and infrastructure at the US Department of Treasury. In this role, she develops international climate finance policy and US contributions to multilateral climate finance institutions. She was previously director of the Sustainable Infrastructure Office, where she was responsible for supporting the mobilisation of private investment into sustainable infrastructure in developing markets globally via the Partnership for Global Infrastructure Investment.
