The effectiveness of the European Fiscal Board

The European Fiscal Board is an independent advisory body of the European Commission and was set up with the aim to strengthen the current economic governance framework.

Niels Thygesen, chair of the EFB, will discuss the policy and institutional challenges that the board and similar bodies face, as well as the latest economic developments in the euro area. The event will also consider the Stability and Growth Pact and the debate on the reform of the European Union’s fiscal rules, including the consistency between national and EU rules-based frameworks.
