Public sector debt summit

21 March 2024

OMFIF’s Sovereign Debt Institute is returning with its third Public sector debt summit, taking place exclusively in Paris. This flagship event convenes developed and emerging market public sector borrowers with asset managers, investment banks and other key market participants for engaging discussions on the most pressing issuance concerns.

As with all our in-person events, the entire day will be off the record with no media in attendance to encourage participants to speak freely and stimulate authentic discussions. There will be ample networking opportunities through refreshment breaks as well as a lunch and a pre-event dinner the evening before. Our bespoke format has proved very popular with attendees, and our events have been labelled by leading market participants as the ‘best forum to debate about SSAs’.

We will begin the summit with an outlook for the global economy and monetary policy, before presenting the findings of our annual Public Sector Debt Outlook survey, examining the funding plans by SSA borrowers for the year ahead. We will ‘take stock’ of the first quarter of 2024 with leading investors and sovereign issuers before examining the evolution of the investor base, allocation strategies and price discovery, sustainable finance and diversification strategies.

About the Sovereign Debt Institute

IMG_4556
SDI colour logo

OMFIF’s Sovereign Debt Institute is an important forum for issuers and investors in the public sector debt markets to discuss their priorities and concerns. The intimate format of our events has generated positive feedback from both borrowers and the buyside.

Events hosted by the SDI during 2023 generated deep discussions about core issues affecting the public sector debt markets. These included concerns about liquidity, incentives for primary dealers, the disappearance of the ‘greenium’, the impact of private placements, the role of hedge funds and the development of market infrastructure.

Throughout 2024, we will build on the success of our 2023 calendar. This will include a mixture of flagship forums with larger numbers of issuers and investors, as well as more focused groups for discussions on specific issues.
