OMFIF is a dynamic and independent think tank. Through our London-based team we produce research and events on world finance and economic policy. We have a comprehensive global network of economic, political and investment decision-makers. Our members come from both the public and private sectors and comprise of some of the most well-known and respected financial and technology organisations in the world. In addition to membership, we offer bespoke meetings and research on global policy and investment themes.

OMFIF operates through four thematic institutes: the Economic and Monetary Policy Institute (EMP) convenes leaders from public and private sector institutions to discuss macroeconomic trends and shape the future of monetary policy and political economy; the Digital Monetary Institute explores the topic of payments, including digital currency as an alternative to cash, and brings together technologists and policy-makers at the heart of decisions relating to the future of finance. The Sustainable Policy Institute (SPI) focuses on sustainable finance, addressing the policy, regulatory and investment challenges posed by environmental, social and governance themes with those responsible for shaping the sustainability agenda; and the Sovereign Debt Institute convenes issuers across the global sovereign, supranational and agency debt community for high-level, strategic and constructive dialogue on the key issues each side faces.

The role:

OMFIF plays a key role in bringing together the public and private sectors to discuss best policy and practice through its memberships, events, research and publications.

This role is within the Economic and Monetary Policy Institute (EMP). EMP convenes central banks, multilateral financial institutions, finance ministries, regulators, commercial banks, investors, consultants and other organisations to discuss monetary policy, economic and fiscal developments, climate-related risks and transition finance, and regulatory standards.

Amid rising economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions, these high-level interactions – convened by OMFIF – are more important than ever.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven individual with a keen interest in economic policy/macroeconomics/political economy/ public investment/ESG. The role incorporates a mix of research and relationship-building with the public sector globally. The successful candidate will play an active role in shaping EMP’s programme of meetings with policymakers and financial market participants, working cohesively and imaginatively with other colleagues across OMFIF.

This is a great opportunity to work with some of the leading financial figures around the world. The role has been a launchpad for the careers of many of our alumni, who have gone on to work at central banks, within the government or for large financial/tech firms.

Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing high-level speakers for OMFIF roundtables, both in-person and virtual
  • Supporting the programming team with the OMFIF event schedule
  • Researching event themes and writing compelling and timely agendas
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with central banks, multilateral financial institutions, ministries of finance, and financial regulators
  • Effectively tracking meetings and speakers on our CRM platform (Salesforce) and other events-related administrative duties
  • Travelling to domestic and international events as required
  • This role reports to the Senior Programme Manager and works closely with event co-ordinators and the marketing, editorial and commercial teams. You will produce around 25-30 (25 person) virtual and in-person roundtables a year.

Skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Conference production / programming
  • Interest in economics and financial markets and enthusiasm to learn about central banking and public investment
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with confidence engaging senior leaders and diverse audiences
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • You must have a 2:1 undergraduate degree or higher, in a related field.
  • It would be an advantage to have prior experience in: Economics, finance, international relations, politics and political economy
  • The public sector or third sector
  • Topic Research
  • Salesforce or other CRMs
