Tokenisation on the rise: the SEC’s initiatives for financial markets
Despite the Clarity Act not passing before Congress in September, tokenisation has moved ahead at a rapid pace, with crypto and traditional finance firms tokenising stocks, bonds and other real-world assets, and moving them onto blockchain networks.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission is already reshaping the rules for tokenised markets. Its innovation exemption for tokenised stock took effect on publication in September, and the Commission has invited comment on how it works in practice.
To explore this, SEC Crypto Task Force General Counsel Taylor Lindman joins OMFIF Vice Chair Patricia Haas Cleveland to discuss SEC initiatives that focus on the opportunities and changes that tokenised financial markets present.
