Ángel Gavilán is the director general for economics, statistics and research. He is also member of the Executive Commission of the Banco de España and alternate to the governor on the Governing Council of the European Central Bank. Prior to this, he was deputy head of the economics and market Analysis in the European Stability Mechanism, until he rejoined Banco de España as head of financial analysis and executive co-ordinator and deputy director of economic developments.
