2026 is a pivotal year for transition finance. Disruption to global energy supplies has exposed the urgent need to phase out fossil fuels for sustainability as well as sovereignty concerns. Latin America, a region that depends on fossil fuels for two-thirds of its energy, feels this more than most. At the same time, hostility to climate action in the US means some investors are choosing to send their capital elsewhere. Latin America is in prime position to reap the benefits of this.

The Americas transition finance summit, hosted by OMFIF and Bolsa Institucional de Valores, aims to go beyond the transition finance space and reach the people with the firepower to transform the region’s financial ecosystem. By bringing together investors, asset managers, development banks, listed corporates and small and medium-sized enterprises, the impact on and needs of the real economy will be front and centre.

Taking place in Mexico City, the summit builds on OMFIF’s 2023 Global transition finance summit, hosted with the Singapore Stock Exchange in Singapore. It forms part of OMFIF’s Transition Finance Working Group programme, which analyses the concerns and priorities of global investors in the transition finance landscape, with major research reports launching at COP29.

As a global convenor of the public and private sector, OMFIF provides a trusted, global platform for critical conversations. The Americas transition finance summit will advance practical solutions and innovative approaches to the region’s climate financing needs, creating opportunities for investors, policy-makers and banks alike.

OMFIF

Andrea Correa is Head of Research at OMFIF. She is responsible for the research and writing of reports and publications on topics such as monetary policy, global public investment and public finances.

Her experience spans both the public and private sectors. She has worked at public policy think tanks, the Colombian Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, Banco de la República and academia, previously working as a research officer at the School of Public Policy at the London School of Economics. She has worked as a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank, evaluating the economic impacts of diverse shocks across Latin America and the Caribbean. She also contributed to the development of the IDB’s macroeconomic model used for fiscal policy analysis.

She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from LSE, with a specialisation in economic policy and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
