The US financial system and economic outlook are rapidly shifting as technologies reshape both US and global capital markets. Given the increasing impact of evolving technologies such as digital assets, blockchain, tokenisation and artificial intelligence on the financial system and US economy, many questions as well as opportunities are emerging.

This roundtable looks at how these changes are reaching the core of US capital markets and the wider economy. Digital assets, blockchain and AI are no longer separate themes, but increasingly work in tandem. The discussion explores opportunities in the near term, where the risks and open regulatory questions lie, and what policy-makers, financial institutions and investors should be watching as these technologies mature.

Steven Levine, general counsel and senior adviser at the Council of Economic Advisors for the White House, and Tyler Williams, senior adviser at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader and former Treasury counsellor to Secretary Scott Bessent for digital assets, join OMFIF Vice Chair Patricia Haas Cleveland to share their perspectives on how these developments are reshaping the US financial system.
