Public blockchains and asset managers: connecting decentralisation with regulated finance

OMFIF is hosting a virtual roundtable with representatives from public blockchain foundations Aptos Labs and Stellar Development Foundation and asset manager Franklin Templeton. These experts will share their experience in constructing the agreements necessary for regulated finance to operate on public blockchains.
Many in traditional finance expect an increasing number of instruments to move onto blockchain. The first waves of this are already visible in the tokenisation of funds at many of the world’s largest asset managers. As funds become traded on public blockchains, regulators are keen to get a handle on supervising this new medium as it differs materially from previous generations of trading infrastructure. The differences are not just technical, but also in their approach to governance, since they are not exclusively owned or operated by an entity that can be easily held accountable.
