Financing the just transition

2023 has been a defining year for the just transition. The growing focus on sustainable financial products, developments in standards and frameworks and international partnerships to further global needs have been rising at landmark levels. However, the International Energy Agency’s Net Zero Emissions Scenario finds the need for an additional $126tn to fully fund the necessary transition. The need for adequate financing can only be addressed through blended finance, with both public and private stakeholders investing in financial products, clean energy jobs and mitigating the physical risks of climate change.
