Heath Tarbert, chairman and chief executive of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, joins Mark Sobel, US Chairman of OMFIF, to discuss the CFTC’s work in managing the Covid-19 crisis, its current and future priorities, cross-border co-operation and the role of financial regulation. The CFTC is the predominant US derivatives regulator, overseeing activities involving interest rate swaps, energy and commodity futures. As interest rate swaps represent a global market, the CFTC’s role is closely linked to European financial markets alongside US financial regulation.
