Several of the world’s largest cities have imposed stringent measures to contain the spread of coronavirus. This has had a massive impact on the global economy, but some countries in Asia are on the road to recovery. Andrew Sheng, distinguished fellow of Asia Global Institute at the University of Hong Kong, discusses the consequences of the pandemic in Asia. In particular, he addresses the outbreak’s impact on China and its aims, ambitions and status in the world.
