The Bank of Thailand’s vision of interconnecting real-time payments systems
Wijitleka Marome, director and London chief representative of the Bank of Thailand, joins OMFIF to discuss the bank’s work on improving cross-border payments through the interconnecting of real-time payments systems.
The Bank of Thailand has been engaged in cutting-edge work connecting its PromptPay instant payment system to its counterparts in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. The project, part of the Bank of International Settlements’ Nexus programme, could provide a blueprint for the scalable interconnection of real-time payments systems all over the world.
