Inside the Fed’s reform agenda
The Federal Reserve’s approach to monetary policy is undergoing its broadest reassessment in over a decade. Since taking the helm in May, Chair Kevin Warsh has launched five task forces reviewing the Fed’s communications, balance sheet, data, productivity and jobs, and inflation frameworks, with implications reaching well beyond Washington to markets, policy-makers and investors worldwide.
This panel discussion examines what the task forces might recommend and how far-reaching the resulting changes could be. The conversation explores what the reforms could mean for the future conduct of US monetary policy, and how they might reshape the Fed’s tools, credibility and independence going forward.
