OMFIF’s Sovereign Debt Institute is returning with its annual forum, bringing together leading regional and agency borrowers, investors and intermediaries to discuss the key developments shaping Europe’s sub-sovereign markets.

Based in Spain, Jakob oversees the analysis and rating of European sovereigns, sub-sovereigns, and public-sector entities. With more than 15 years of experience in public finance and credit analysis, he has led numerous rating assessments across Europe, including work on regional and agency issuers. He is also responsible for Scope’s sub-sovereign and government-related agencies rating methodologies, serving as a key author and contributor to their development.
Prior to his current role, Jakob served as Director for Sovereign and Public Sector Ratings at Scope in Frankfurt, and previously worked as Senior Economist at Commerzbank AG, focusing on euro area fiscal and macroeconomic developments.
Earlier in his career, he was Senior Restructuring Analyst at Eurohypo AG and Commerzbank AG, managing public-sector portfolios and supporting restructuring processes.
Jakob regularly contributes to discussions on sovereign and sub-sovereign credit risk, European fiscal policy, and sustainable public finance.
