ESMA’s approach to decentralised finance

As decentralised finance continues to evolve, the European Securities and Markets Authority is closely monitoring market developments in line with its mandate to oversee innovation across the European Union’s financial markets.

Laura Weil, policy officer for Digital Money at ESMA, joins OMFIF to discuss the regulatory implications of decentralised finance. The discussion examines the different approaches required to oversee the decentralised provision of financial services compared with supervision of traditional markets.
