US approach to crypto-asset regulation

With the much-anticipated Diem stablecoin entering the market, the focus on crypto-assets in payment systems has increased exponentially. The challenge of fostering growth and innovation while ensuring risks are managed to safeguard financial stability is key to the development of effective regulation. Tim Massad, former chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, discusses how regulators are addressing these concerns, while examining data protection, cybersecurity and the case for a coordinated international approach to regulation and supervision.
