Following the budget agreement between the European Union and Rome in December 2018, this roundtable will analyse its impact on Italy’s economy. The roundtable will look at the current state of the country’s economy and analyse its investment future, in the context of the probable future relationship between Brussels and Rome.

The roundtable will unpack Italy’s political realities and economic positioning. Participants will review Italy’s economic situation compared to that of other EU member states, its relationship with the EU and its wider place in the world. On the domestic front, the meeting will review the state of the country’s 2019 budget and the implications of Italy’s demographics. Participants will assess how the government is navigating these challenges and how markets are responding. Further topics will include opportunities for investment in both the public and private sectors. Attendees will also discuss policies in place to safeguard public finances and analyse asset allocation trends in the Italian financial sector.
