Andrew LargeFormer Deputy Governor, the Bank of England

Sir Andrew Large was Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, and a member of its Monetary Policy Committee from September 2002 to January 2006. Today, he acts independently advising central banks and others on financial stability issues.

His career began with British Petroleum (BP), where he served from 1964–71. He then worked as an investment banker for 20 years, after which his career oscillated between the private and public sector.

He was a member of the Management Board of Swiss Bank Corporation from 1987-89; Chairman of the Securities and Investments Board (precursor of the Financial Services Authority FSA) from 1992–97; and Deputy Chairman of Barclays Bank from 1998-2002. He has served on a number of additional boards including Nuclear Electric, English China Clays and Ranks Hovis McDougall. 

Large holds BA and MA degrees in Economics from Cambridge University, as well as an MBA from INSEAD.
