Jukka Pihlman joined Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) in May 2012 and is responsible for strategic dialogue/advice and coverage for central banks, sovereign wealth funds and public pension funds globally.
Prior to this, he was at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he worked as an Advisor in the Sovereign Asset and Liability Management Division. He led and participated in several technical assistance missions advising central banks and sovereign wealth funds on various asset management, risk management, and governance related issues. He was also heavily involved with the International Working Group for Sovereign Wealth Funds in drafting the Santiago Principles, and acted as the Secretary for the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds.
Previously, he was Manager of the Risk Unit at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, responsible for the risk management framework for foreign reserves and domestic market operations.
In his earlier career he worked as a Financial Economist in the Market Operations Department of the Bank of Finland and as an Instructor at the University of Tampere, where he also obtained two MSc degrees (one in Economics & Finance, the other in Statistics and Mathematics).
